Standard room

The house
The building was completed in 1960 as a dormitory for the Kemijärvi teachers' seminary. It later served as a vocational school dormitory. In 2025 it was renovated and refurnished for hotel use — old soul, new life.
Academy Hotel's style is simple, Lappish, honest and approachable — not luxury, and not trying to be. The building's history is presented in the hotel's shared spaces, and the house keeps its dormitory spirit: 45 rooms and 120 beds, shared kitchens on every floor for cooking together, and a sauna in the basement.
The hotel is open year-round, about a ten-minute walk from Kemijärvi railway station. Read the full story or explore the rooms.
